Program Overview

Introduction to the Career Preview Programme

The Career Preview Programme is designed to help Part I law students reflect on their first year of study, gain insight into the legal profession, and prepare for the transition into Part II and beyond.

How the Programme Works

This programme is open to Part I University of Auckland Law students and will run in Semester One and Semester Two. The programme consists of two sessions:

  • Session 1: Welcome Workshop
    • Reflect on the study journey so far
    • Feature a Q&A with a Student Support Adviser to discuss entry into Part II
    • Include a senior student sharing their experience at law school
    • Understand the connection between preferences, strengths, and future pathway
  • Session 2: Introduction to the Profession Panel/Information Session
    • Provide opportunities for participants to gain an understanding of what is involved in working in the legal profession
    • Offer advice and tips on exploring opportunities during studies

Testimonies from Participants

Previous participants have found the programme to be a great introduction to the field of law, inspiring them to build their network and connections. It has also helped them reflect on their personal values and beliefs in relation to their future career.
