Program Overview
MSc in Clinical Anatomy
The MSc in Clinical Anatomy is a postgraduate program designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the complex nature of the human body and its relation to clinical practice. This understanding enables students to effectively evaluate, diagnose, and treat illnesses in their future careers.
About the Programme
The program is built around core dissection-based modules and a range of complementary anatomy modules. These modules allow students to gain an in-depth understanding of the fundamental pillars of anatomy, including embryology, neuroanatomy, histology, and radiology. Students work with donor material preserved using Thiel, Formalin, and plastination embalming techniques in state-of-the-art facilities for dissection and plastination.
Course Structure
The program includes taught modules and research training sessions that provide students with specialist and generic research skills. These skills support students' success in the 60-credit Research Project module and future research opportunities across academic, clinical, and research careers. Students conduct a high-quality anatomy-focused research project supported by experts in anatomy research.
Accreditation
The program's Advance HE-accredited Professional Practice modules are designed to nurture skilled, qualified anatomy educators. Students gain valuable experience teaching on undergraduate programs, preparing them to teach anatomy in higher education environments.
Modules
The program offers a range of 20-credit modules, including:
- Clinical anatomy dissection modules
- Optional anatomy modules
- Research skills module
- Professional practice in education modules
- Research project/dissertation module
Students select a total of 180 credits from a flexible combination of modules, including 40 credits of clinical anatomy dissection modules and 60 credits from the research project/dissertation module.
