Introduction to BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science

The University of Hull offers a BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science degree that is fully approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This course is designed to produce better-qualified paramedics and is part of a national drive to make the profession degree-only.

Course Overview

The BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science degree is a three-year full-time course that combines classroom theory with clinical practice. Students will learn front-line care through a combination of simulated practice on campus and placements with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and other healthcare partners.

Entry Requirements

To apply for this course, students need 120 UCAS points, with at least 120 points coming from three A Levels. The typical offer is BBB at A Level or DDM at BTEC. Students with experience and qualifications from the UK and worldwide are considered, and the admissions team will look at the whole application, including the personal statement.

Fees and Funding

The standard course fee is £9,790 per year, and home students may receive a payment of at least £5,000 a year, which does not need to be paid back. Students can also take out a tuition fee loan and a maintenance loan of up to £10,544 a year.

The course is divided into modules, with each year worth 120 credits. Most modules are 20 credits, and some are compulsory, while others are optional. The modules include:

Facilities

The University of Hull has state-of-the-art facilities, including an ambulance simulator, critical care room, hospital ward, and health campus. Students can also take a virtual tour of the facilities.

Career Prospects

This course is fully approved by the HCPC, and graduates will be eligible to register as a paramedic. The employment prospects are excellent, with 100% of graduates in work or further study 15 months after graduating.
