Program Overview

The computer science minor requires a minimum of six courses, which include:

• COSI 12b
• COSI 21a
• Four additional computer science courses, with only one cross-listed course allowed to count toward the elective requirement

Program Requirements

The following requirements must be met to fulfill the minor in computer science:

• COSI 98a may only be used once as an elective
• No COSI course numbered 10 or lower may be used toward the minor
• No course with a final grade below C- can count toward fulfilling the requirements for the minor in computer science
• No course taken pass/fail may count toward requirements for the minor

Exemptions and Prerequisites

• Students with no prior programming experience must satisfactorily complete COSI 10a prior to enrolling in COSI 12b
• Students may be exempted from COSI 10a if they:
  • Received a score of 5 on the AP Computer Science A exam
  • Successfully complete the online placement exam
  • Note: The AP Computer Science Principles test does not currently replace any COSI courses
