Program Overview

Program Overview

The Certificate in Professional Writing and Editing, offered by the Department of French, prepares students for numerous jobs that rely on mastering information writing and communication techniques. This specialized training combines knowledge of concepts and practical experience with tools (including computer-based ones) and methods used in various professional settings (institutions, businesses, public service, public relations, media, etc.).

Program Details

  • The minor and certificate in professional writing and editing can be taken if the bachelor's degree program allows it. It reinforces the student's training by adding a competence that enables them to exercise writing or editorial responsibilities related to their main discipline (scientific, technical, administrative, commercial, legal writing and editing, etc.).
  • The certificate is aimed at individuals who already hold a job related to writing (information officer, journalist, executive secretary, communications officer, translator, etc.) and wish to strengthen their skills. It is also suitable for those looking to reorient their career towards a writing-related position or for those who have completed an undergraduate degree and are seeking complementary training that opens up new professional horizons.
