Program Overview

The Formation ŕ lenseignement (B.Éd.) Temps plein program is designed to prepare students to teach in French-language schools in Ontario. The program is offered at the University of Ottawa's campuses in Ottawa, Toronto, and Windsor.

Program Details

• Duration: Four trimesters (fall, winter)
• Location: Ottawa, Toronto, or Windsor campus
• Language: French
• Internship: 80 days of internship

Admission Requirements

• Hold a recognized undergraduate degree
• Choose a campus and teaching cycle before applying

Teaching Cycles

Primary/Junior (P/J)

• Prepares students to teach from kindergarten to grade 6
• Acquire skills in teaching methods and learning for all subjects

Junior/Intermediate (J/I)

• Prepares students to teach from grade 4 to 10
• Must choose a teaching option from the available subjects

Intermediate/Senior (I/S)

• Prepares students to teach from grade 7 to 12
• Must choose two teaching options from the available subjects

Primary/Junior (P/J)

• Total of 20 courses (60 credits)
• Courses include:
  • PED 3519: Société et systčme scolaire franco-ontarien
  • PED 3540: Apprentissage et enseignement ŕ l'élémentaire
  • PED 3545: Éducation au cycle préparatoire
  • PED 36001: Stage 1 en milieu scolaire élémentaire (Part 1 of 2)
  • PED 3757: Didactique des mathématiques ŕ l'élémentaire
  • PED 3761: Didactique du français au cycle primaire

Junior/Intermediate (J/I)

• Total of 20 courses (60 credits)
• Courses include:
  • PED 3519: Société et systčme scolaire franco-ontarien
  • PED 3550: Apprentissage et enseignement au secondaire
  • PED 3577: Gestion de la classe, des situations dapprentissage et du curriculum au secondaire
  • PED 36201: Stage I en milieu scolaire secondaire (Part 1 of 2)
  • PED 3757: Didactique des mathématiques ŕ l'élémentaire
  • PED XXXX: 1 course according to the subject of the intermediate cycle teaching option

Intermediate/Senior (I/S)

• Total of 20 courses (60 credits)
• Courses include:
  • PED 3519: Société et systčme scolaire franco-ontarien
  • PED 3550: Apprentissage et enseignement au secondaire
  • PED 3577: Gestion de la classe, des situations dapprentissage et du curriculum au secondaire
  • PED 36201: Stage I en milieu scolaire secondaire (Part 1 of 2)
  • PED XXXX: 1 course according to the subject of the intermediate cycle teaching option
  • PED XXXX: 1 course according to the subject of the senior cycle teaching option

Accreditation

The program is accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) and leads to a Certificate of Qualification and Registration issued by the OCT.

Additional Information

• Two mandatory internships are required for the program.
• A criminal record check for the vulnerable sector is required to participate in the internships.
