Introduction to the Ophthalmic Medical Technology Program

The Ophthalmic Medical Technology program offers students the opportunity to train with state-of-the-art technology and collaborate directly with the expert health care team at the renowned University of Ottawa Eye Institute.

Program Overview

• The program is designed for students who have completed the first two years of undergraduate studies in another program.
• Eligible students may apply to enter directly into the third year of this specialized two-year program.
• Duration of the program: 2 years (4 terms).
• The program is offered on a full-time basis only.
• The last two years of the program are only offered in English.

Important Dates

• February 13, 2026: Last day to submit online application
• February 26, 2026: Deadline to receive documents for application
• End of March 2026: Invitations to interviews are sent out
• Beginning of April 2026: Interview dates
• End of April 2026: Admission offers are sent out

Admission Requirements

Path #1: The Honours BSc in Ophthalmic Medical Technology

• Intended for students who have completed the first two years of undergraduate studies in another program.
• Eligible students may apply to enter directly into the third year of this specialized two-year program.
