Program Overview


Advanced Materials and Manufacturing (MEng) Program

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing (MEng) program, applicants must:


  • Be registered full-time in the Master of Engineering (MEng) Advanced Materials and Manufacturing program and maintain a full-time status during all study terms, including the one after the last work term
  • Have an admission average of B+ (75%) and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.0 (B+ or 75%) in courses taken at the University of Ottawa
  • Start the program in the fall term, as this is necessary due to co-op placement cycles

Work/Study Sequences

The program offers two work/study sequences:


Sequence 1

  • Year 1: Study (Fall), Study (Winter), Work Term 1 (Summer)
  • Year 2: Work Term 2 (Fall), Study (Winter)

Sequence 2 (for students needing more time to finish their program)

  • Year 1: Study (Fall), Study (Winter), Work Term 1 (Summer)
  • Year 2: Work Term 2 (Fall), Study (Winter), Study (Summer)

Application Process

To apply for the co-op program, students must:


  • Have an admission average of 75% (B+) or higher
  • Apply to co-op after starting their studies at the University of Ottawa
  • Follow the steps to apply through the Experiential Learning Platform (Co-op Portal)
  • Note the application deadline: September 30 of their first year of studies
