Program Overview
Program Overview
The Doctorate in Philosophy Earth Sciences with a specialization in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology is a collaborative program offered by the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. This program is designed to provide students with advanced research training in earth sciences and toxicology.
Program Description
The Ottawa-Carleton Geoscience Centre (OCGC) combines the research strengths of the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, offering graduate programs leading to master's and doctoral degrees in earth sciences. The centre provides students with access to research facilities, professors, courses, and facilities at both universities.
Collaborative Program Description
The collaborative program in chemical and environmental toxicology is intended to augment the research and training available to students through the individual supporting institutes. Toxicology is the study of the effects of toxic substances on living systems, and this program extends to aspects of chemical transport, fate, persistence, and biological accumulation of toxic substances.
Main Areas of Research
The program focuses on the following main areas of research:
- Environmental geoscience
- Geochemistry
- Petrology
- Geomathematics
- Geomatics
- Mineral resources studies
- Sedimentary systems
- Tectonics
- Geophysics
Other Programs Offered
The university also offers other programs in related areas, including:
- Master of Science Earth Sciences (MSc)
- Master of Science Earth Sciences Specialization in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology (MSc)
- Master of Science Earth Sciences Specialization in Science, Society and Policy (MSc)
- Doctorate in Philosophy Earth Sciences (PhD)
Fees and Funding
The estimated university fees associated with this program are available under the section "Finance your studies." International students enrolled in a French-language program of study may be eligible for a differential tuition fee exemption.
