The Master of Human Kinetics (MHK) program with a concentration in Mental Performance Consulting is designed to prepare students for certification through the joint AASP/CSPA certification program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). This program is the only applied sport psychology program in Canada, focusing on coursework and internships to enhance personal, academic, and career development.

Program Description
The MHK program in Mental Performance Consulting aims to develop competencies related to communication, collaboration, consultation, management, advocacy, professionalism, well-being, and scholarship. With an emphasis on relevant courses and a 400-hour supervised internship, the program prepares students to work with individuals across the performance spectrum, strengthening mental performance, well-being, learning, and growth.
Admission Requirements
- Candidates must have an honours bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in human kinetics or a related field, with a minimum average of 70% (B).
- International candidates must check the admission equivalencies for the diploma they received in their country of origin.
- Applicants must be able to understand, write, and fluently speak the language of instruction (French or English) in the program to which they are applying.
- Proof of linguistic proficiency may be required.
- Candidates may be interviewed by the admissions committee.
Program Requirements
- The program includes compulsory courses such as Counselling Theories and Skills, Mental Skills Training Programs and Tools, Applied Research Methods for Practitioners, Ethics and Values in Sport, Performance, and Physical Activity Contexts, and Essential Competencies for Mental Performance Consultants.
- A 400-hour supervised internship is a critical component of the program, providing practical experience in mental performance consulting.
- The passing grade in all courses is C+.
- A student who incurs failures in two courses or a practicum is withdrawn from the program.
