Program Overview
Program Overview
The Major Biology program is a 60-unit course of study that introduces students to the fundamental principles of biology, from molecules to ecosystems. Recent discoveries and new technologies are revolutionizing the biological sciences, placing increasing emphasis on integrating knowledge across all levels of organization. This program provides students with both the intellectual tools and hands-on experience necessary to generate new knowledge and contribute to debates on diverse issues, including land management, conservation, disease prevention, and stem cell research.
Program Structure
The major in biology combines traditional classroom instruction with innovative laboratory projects and a strong basic research program. Undergraduate students at all levels are intensively mentored in a research lab, allowing them to pursue diverse interests while opening the door to graduate studies or a career in the life sciences. The program is offered in both English and French.
