Program Overview
Program Overview
The Zenstudies: Making a Healthy Transition to Higher Education program aims to prevent depression and anxiety in first-year post-secondary students. It consists of three modules, or levels, of prevention.
Program Details
- The program is published by the University of Ottawa Press and is available in English, thanks to the support of Bell for the cause and the Rossy Foundation.
- The program was initially published in French by the Presses de l'Université du Québec and has been proven effective over the past five years.
Module 2: Targeted-Selective Prevention Program
Description
Module 2 is a targeted-selective prevention program that includes two workshops, one for anxiety management and the other for depression prevention. These workshops are led by a team of professors and specialists. Participants voluntarily enroll in these workshops, which are offered in small groups.
Objectives
- The module aims to facilitate the transition to college or university and reduce the risk of dropping out.
- It enables students to acquire a solid understanding of the issues related to internalization problems (anxiety and depression) and teaches them some prevention strategies.
Target Audience
- The Facilitator's Guide is specifically designed for teachers or professors and professionals with the required expertise to offer mental health services and who work with this student clientele.
