MASTER’S IN HEALTH SERVICES MANAGEMENT
Program Overview
MAÎTRISE EN GESTION DES SERVICES DE SANTÉ
The Maîtrise en gestion des services de santé (MGSS) is a program offered by the École de gestion Telfer at the Université d'Ottawa.
Program Overview
The MGSS program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare system and the skills necessary to manage healthcare services effectively. The program is tailored to meet the needs of professionals working in the healthcare sector, with a focus on developing leadership and management skills.
Residency
The MGSS program includes a residency component, which provides students with the opportunity to work in a healthcare setting and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. The residency can be completed in person or through a project-based approach.
In-Person Residency
The in-person residency is a four-month placement in a healthcare organization, where students work closely with healthcare professionals to develop management and leadership skills. Students participate in decision-making processes, work on projects, and gain hands-on experience in healthcare management.
Project-Based Residency
The project-based residency is designed for professionals who cannot take time off work to complete an in-person residency. Students work on a healthcare management project, applying theoretical knowledge to a real-world problem, and meet with a residency supervisor to discuss progress.
Finding the Right Residency
The MGSS program has partnerships with over 90 healthcare organizations across Canada, providing students with a wide range of residency options. The program's administrators work with students to find a residency that aligns with their career goals and interests.
