B.Sc. Specialized in Environmental Geosciences
The B.Sc. Specialized in Environmental Geosciences is a 120-credit program that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the Earth's systems and the impact of human activities on the environment.
Program Description
The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address environmental issues and develop sustainable solutions. Students will study the fundamental principles of geology, biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as the social and economic factors that influence environmental decision-making.
Program Requirements
The program requires the completion of 120 credits, including:
- 30 credits in the first year, consisting of:
- BIO1509 (if not completed, students must take this course)
- BIO1530
- CHM1711 (if not completed, students must take CHM1701)
- GEO1515
- MAT1730
- PHY1521 (if not completed, students must take PHY1731)
- 30 credits in the second year, consisting of:
- BIO2529
- CHM2753 (fall) or CHM2730 (winter)
- GEO2563
- GEO2565
- 3 credits of optional courses
- 33 credits in the third year, consisting of:
- EVS3520
- GEO3563
- GEO3591
- 3 credits of elective courses
- 3 credits of courses chosen from the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences, or the Telfer School of Management
- 27 credits in the fourth year, consisting of:
- GEO4010 (fall and winter) or 9 credits of optional courses in geology or environmental science at the 3000 or 4000 level
- 6 credits of optional courses in geology or environmental science at the 3000 or 4000 level
- 3 credits of elective courses

Notes
- BIO1509 is an additional course beyond the program requirements.
- Some required courses are not offered every year in French.
- A language course at the 1000 or 2000 level is strongly recommended.
- Suggested elective courses include GEO3567, GEO4301, GEO4342, GEO4382, GEG3502, GEG3505, GEG3712, and EVS4904.
