Program Overview


Master of Education (MEd) Program

The Master of Education (MEd) program, coursework option, is available in French only. This program includes a total of 10 courses (30 units), comprising 3 compulsory courses (9 units), 5 courses (15 units) within the concentration, and 2 optional courses in education at the graduate level (6 units).

Course Sequence

The course sequence for the MEd, coursework option, is as follows:


  • Term 1 (Fall):
    • EDU 55901: Introduction to Research in Education (3 units) or EDU 65361: Introduction to Research in Health Education (3 units)
    • MED 6531: Teaching in Health, Part I (3 units)
    • 2 courses in the concentration (6 units)
  • Term 2 (Winter):
    • MED 6532: Teaching in Health, Part II (3 units)
    • 2 courses in the concentration (6 units)
    • 1 optional graduate course in education (3 units)
  • Term 3 (Spring/Summer):
    • 1 course in the concentration (3 units)
    • 1 optional graduate course in education (3 units)

Important Notes

  • EDU 6536 or EDU 5590 must normally be completed at the beginning of the program.
  • Compulsory courses must be taken in the language of the program of study.
  • Courses are 3 hours long and require about 6 to 9 hours of study per week of personal time.
  • Full-time students should take three or four courses per term, while part-time students can take no more than two courses per term.
  • Most courses are offered in the evenings, but some may be offered during the day (usually in the afternoon).
  • Students are responsible for ensuring they can attend the course in question to complete the program requirements.
  • Additional concentration courses may be taken to satisfy the program requirement for optional course units in education at the graduate level.

Enrollment Policy

Pursuant to the University's continuous enrollment policy, graduate students must be enrolled each term (including spring/summer) until they complete their program.
