Program Overview
Philosophy Graduate Programs
Program Overview
The Philosophy graduate program is designed for individuals who take questions seriously, especially those that are important but troubling, and who want to know how to answer hard questions. The program emphasizes critical analysis, problem-solving, and forming and evaluating oral and written arguments as well as thinking logically and critically.
Why Study Philosophy?
Philosophy courses are aimed primarily at people who take questions seriously, especially those that are important but troubling, and who want to know how to answer hard questions. The major also introduces students to a range of traditional philosophical issues and the writings of some of the greatest thinkers in history. The certificate program is for students (who do not need to be philosophy majors or minors) with specialized interests within philosophy. Certificates involve taking four thematically linked upper division philosophy courses. Philosophy students score highest of all majors on the LSATs, GREs, and GMATs.
