The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering at Michigan Tech designed the graduate certificate in Water Resources Modeling to develop skills in modeling natural and engineered hydraulic and hydrologic systems.

Admissions Requirements
To enroll in this certificate program, students must have a bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or a related degree.
Accelerated Option
Current Michigan Tech undergraduates or recent alumni can get started right away with the accelerated graduate certificates, which are a fast and affordable way to add graduate credentials to their bachelor's degree in as little as one semester.
Online Option
Online learning at Michigan Tech provides greater flexibility and can fit around a busy schedule wherever the student is located. Prospective students can earn the graduate certificate in Water Resources Modeling fully online.
Credits and Timeline
This graduate certificate requires a minimum of 9 total credits. Students may apply the credits earned for this certificate toward a graduate degree at Michigan Tech. The program can be completed in one to three semesters.
Program Details
The graduate certificate in Water Resources Modeling provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in system management, analysis, design, and communication while working with data from real-world case studies. Students will learn to apply model-building skills, including visualization, interpretation, and communication of results, and hone their skills in numerical modeling and simulation for use in natural and engineered systems.

- Water Resources System Modeling and Design
- Water Quality Modeling in Natural Systems
- Hydrodynamic Modeling
- Advanced Groundwater Engineering and Remediation
Application Process and Admissions Decisions
Applications are reviewed on an individual basis using a holistic approach. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. The GMAT/GRE is not required, and the preferred major is civil, environmental, or a related degree. International students must have a TOEFL score of 79 iBT or an IELTS overall band score of 6.5. Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis.
