Master in International Advocacy

The Master in International Advocacy seeks to produce graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to seize the opportunities in a global environment. The expansion of the international market in legal services requires specialized lawyers who can work in multi-jurisdictional and multidisciplinary teams.

Curriculum

The study plan for the Master in International Advocacy is based on a series of common modules, which encompass 5 ECTS of soft skills subjects, as well as common contents. The latter entail a total of 23 ECTS, split into seven subjects. Students will have to enroll in both soft skills and the common contents.

• The course plan is designed to provide a comprehensive education in international advocacy, with a focus on practical skills and knowledge.

Admission

• The basic requirement for admission is to have obtained or be in the condition to get before the Master starts a Bachelor or Degree in the area of Law.
• Students who have obtained their law degree outside Spain must attend the Course 0 of Introduction to Spanish and European Union Law.
• The admission criteria include:

  • Participation in national or international legal competitions
  • Participation in courses run by internationally renowned universities or legal centers

Enrollment

• The tuition fees are:
  • EU students: 150/ECTS
  • International students: 225/ECTS
• The total tuition fee for the first academic year is:
  • EU students: 9,000
  • International students: 13,500
• The reservation fee is 800, which will be deducted from the first tuition payment.

Scholarships

• The Moot Madrid-PCA Scholarship is available for students who participate in the Moot Madrid competition.
• The scholarship includes a financial support and an internship at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague.

• The Course 0 of Introduction to Spanish and European Union Law is mandatory for students who have obtained their law degree outside Spain.
• The Course 0 of Introduction to Accounting and Finance is recommended for students who lack a foundation in accounting and finance.

Moots

• The Master's Final Project can consist of participation in a moot court or a business transaction lab (BTL).
• The moot courts are international legal competitions where students must test their written and oral skills.
• The BTL replicates the practice of a transactional attorney in large operations, on an international scale.

Internships

• The Master in International Advocacy includes 6 ECTS credits in internationally-renowned firms, as well as international companies or institutions and international organizations.
• The internships are included in the subject "External Practices" and have a value of 6 ECTS credits.
• The internships can be done throughout the academic year and until October 31 of the year following the start of the program.

Double Degree

• The UC3M offers the possibility of taking the Master's Degree in International Advocacy and the Master's Degree in Legal Practice and Representation together.
• The double degree is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in law and prepare them for the professional aptitude assessment tests for the practice of law.
