Program Overview
Máster de Formación Permanente in Aircraft Systems Integration
The Máster de Formación Permanente in Aircraft Systems Integration (MASI) is a master's program designed specifically for recent engineering graduates and professionals seeking to develop and lead aircraft systems integration projects. The program is sponsored by Airbus-Espańa and is taught in English by internationally recognized experts in the field.
Program Structure
The MASI program consists of 90 credits, including a final master's project oriented towards the industry. The program combines three basic elements:
- Fundamentals (M1), providing the foundation for understanding technologies, methods, and requirements.
- Generalization (M2), required for managing complexity and understanding the overall system.
- Experimentation (M3), for transferring knowledge from abstraction to implementation, innovation, and invention.
Modules
The program is divided into five modules:
M1. Introductory Level (16.6 credits)
Provides technical knowledge necessary for understanding how different aircraft systems function.
- Introduction to Aircraft Systems Integration (2.4 credits)
- Fundamentals of Aeronautical Engineering (6.0 credits)
- Electronics and Onboard Instrumentation (3.2 credits)
- Aeronautical Communications (3.0 credits)
- Introduction to Aircraft Control (2.0 credits)
M2. Core Level (15.6 credits)
Seeks to provide the global systemic vision necessary for managing long and complex aeronautical projects.
- Systems Engineering (3.2 credits)
- Embedded Software and Hardware (3.0 credits)
- Aircraft Certification and Safety Analysis (3.0 credits)
- Aeronautical Project Management (1.6 credits)
- Design and Configuration Management of Aircraft Systems (1.6 credits)
- Electromagnetic Compatibility of Aircraft (2.4 credits)
- Data Engineering for Digital Aircraft (0.8 credits)
M3. Advanced Level (21.8 credits)
Focuses on the integration of specific systems, such as fuel, hydraulic, electrical, and avionics systems.
- Antenna Integration (1.4 credits)
- General Systems (5.0 credits)
- Communication Systems (2.0 credits)
- Surveillance, Identification, and Mission Systems (2.6 credits)
- Air Navigation Systems (2.2 credits)
- Information Presentation and Flight Systems (2.0 credits)
- Armament and Electronic Warfare Systems (1.6 credits)
- Unmanned Navigation Systems (1.6 credits)
- Seminars/Conferences/Laboratories (3.4 credits)
M4. Professional Practices (24 credits)
Designed to provide students with the technical, professional, and social skills necessary to enter and/or develop an engineering career in the industry related to systems engineering (aeronautics).
M5. Final Project (12 credits)
Consists of the development of a complete aircraft systems integration project under the supervision of an industrial or academic tutor.
Faculty
The program is directed by Francisco J. González Serrano (UC3M) and Daniel Izquierdo Gil (Airbus DS). The faculty includes professors from UC3M and external professionals from the aeronautical industry, such as Airbus.
Admission
The admission process involves submitting an application, CV, letter of presentation, academic transcript, and proof of English proficiency. A selection committee will evaluate candidates based on academic and professional criteria.
Tuition Fees
The tuition fee for the MASI program is 10,000 , payable in three installments.
Career Opportunities
100% of MASI students from MASI09 to MASI20 have converted their practices into full-time jobs in leading aeronautical companies. The program offers a high employment rate, with many students being hired by companies such as Airbus.
