Program Overview

Introduction to the Ringvorlesung am IKB: One Object Lessons (WS 2025/26)

The Ringvorlesung am IKB: One Object Lessons (WS 2025/26) is a lecture series presented by the Institut f³r Kunst- und Bildgeschichte at the Humboldt University of Berlin. The series focuses on individual objects and their materiality, exploring the relationship between the singular and the general in art-historical research.

Objectives and Methodology

The lecture series aims to discuss methodological approaches to understanding individual objects, from monumental and large-scale to small and fragile artifacts. Each object presented enables its interlocutor to illuminate different aspects of a specific historical context and throws up its own methodological challenges.
