Introduction to the Deutsch-FranzŲsisches Rechtsstudium (BerMŁPa) Program

The Deutsch-FranzŲsisches Rechtsstudium (BerMŁPa) is a joint law program between the Humboldt-Universitšt zu Berlin and the Universitť Paris-Panthťon-Assas. This program allows students to spend three semesters in Paris, where they can earn the Licence en Droit and the Master 1 degree. In Germany, students can complete the First State Examination.


Program Structure

  • The program is a cooperation between the Humboldt-Universitšt zu Berlin and the Universitť Paris-Panthťon-Assas.
  • Students from the Humboldt-Universitšt zu Berlin spend three semesters in Paris.
  • French participants from the Universitť Paris-Panthťon-Assas study for two or four semesters in the LL.M. program at the Humboldt-Universitšt zu Berlin.
  • The program includes intensive study of French and German law, as well as European and international law.

  • Participants earn the Licence en Droit after two semesters abroad.
  • The Humboldt-Universitšt zu Berlin recognizes the Licence en Droit in combination with a comparative law seminar as a specialization area exam (SP 8).

  • A deadline extension of up to three semesters can be applied for.

Program Details

Admission and Application

  • The application phase for the BerMŁPa program is closed for the 2026/27 academic year.
  • Interested students could apply until October 15, 2025, for a study abroad period in the 2026/27 academic year.

Curriculum and Study Abroad

  • Students participate in regular study programs at both universities.
  • The program includes comparative law seminars with students from both countries, covering German, French, European, and international law.
  • French students earn the Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in European Law and Comparative Law, which is recognized as a master's degree in Paris.
