###Overview The M.Ed. Teaching at primary schools special education with the specializations in sign language pedagogy/listening and communication is a master's program offered by the Humboldt University of Berlin. This program combines the study of special education with two additional subjects.
Study Structure
The program consists of 7 parts:
- 1. Study subject: Special education with the specializations in sign language pedagogy/hearing and communication (25 CP)
- 2. Study subject: Mathematics or German (10 CP)
- 3. Study subject: Mathematics, German, Science, or Sports (10 CP)
- General primary school pedagogy (10 LP) with an additional 4 LP integrated into the educational sciences and language education module
- Specialist internship (24 CP)
- Educational sciences and language education (26 CP)
- Final module (15 LP)
Contents
The study of special education with the specializations in sign language pedagogy/hearing and communication includes:
- In-depth study of sign language pedagogy and hearing + communication in the areas of didactics and diagnostics
- Inclusive school development and teaching research
- A practical semester (3rd semester) with more information available
General Primary School Pedagogy
The General Primary School Pedagogy module (10 LP) consists of two modules and includes two seminars and a study project. Additional 4 CP are completed within the Educational Sciences module.
Education Science and Language Education
The program includes modules in Educational Sciences (17 LP + 4 LP from General Primary School Pedagogy) and Language Education (5 LP). The following modules must be completed:
- Module 1 “Promotion of learning and motivation to learn”
- Module 2 “Evaluation, Diagnostics and Inclusion”
- Module 3 "Teaching and learning research project in the practical semester"
- Module 1 "Language education in primary school"
Practical Semester
The practical semester is completed in the 3rd semester. Information on the recognition of study achievements and the accreditation of practical performances can be found on the website of the chair of the examination committee.
Final Thesis
The final thesis must be completed in the Special Education Subject in one of the two chosen specializations. It is written within the framework of the final module. The prerequisite for participation in the Final Module is the completion of at least 60 credit points in the M.Ed. Primary school teaching program.
