Doctorat Interdisciplinaire en Aménagement

The Doctorat Interdisciplinaire en Aménagement is focused on the theoretical, philosophical, and practical foundations of environmental sciences.

Objectif

The objective of this program is to conduct research in an interdisciplinary exchange framework.

Particularités

• Approach with multiple interveners, based on a broad understanding of human environment design, ranging from landscape to city, building to interior space and object.
• Multidisciplinarity architecture, landscape architecture, design, and urbanism to address the social, cultural, and physical dimensions of living environment issues.
• Interdisciplinary openness that leads to exploring fields related to environmental design, extending knowledge, and grasping the complexity of contemporary issues.
• Variety of research areas and specializations approached with a consistent scientific approach.

Cheminement et Structure

The program structure involves progression between research training through seminars and validation of research units ensuring project advancement under the supervision of a director.

Séminaires Obligatoires et Thématiques

• 1st: Epistemological issues of environmental research, foundations of interdisciplinarity, and development of a personal research project.
• 2nd: Operationalization of environmental research and development of a personal research strategy.
• Two parts for each: in-depth learning and development of general skills for environmental research; development of the thesis project.
• Thematic seminars (1 credit each) 2 types:
  • Specialized, focusing on study objects and theories.
  • General tooling, related to transversal skills.

Autres Détails

• Elective courses: taken within the framework of one of the Faculté de l'aménagement's master's programs or within other Université de Montréal programs.
• Credits for presenting the progress of the thesis project: divided into 3 units of 1 credit each, to be presented at key moments in your progression.
• Research credits: divided into 11 units of 3 credits.
• General synthesis exam: to be passed before the end of the 6th semester of study; consists of 2 parts oral and written.
