About

The PhD in Anthropology is a graduate program that aims to develop an in-depth understanding of the discipline and prepare students for a career in research or teaching. The program offers an original look at the human fact in its entirety, promoting the learning of a unique perspective on humans of yesterday and today, their environment, their interactions and the intellectual and methodological approach which allows access to them.

Options

The program offers two options:

• General: specialization in research or teaching in one of the 4 sub-disciplines of anthropology: ethnology, archaeology, biological anthropology and ethnolinguistics.
• Museology: development of skills to work in research in the museum field.

Admission Requirements

• General eligibility conditions (section XX) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
• Required diplomas and admission thresholds:
  • Master's degree in anthropology or diploma deemed equivalent
  • Minimum average of 3.3 out of 4.3
• Knowledge of the French language reaching level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
• Knowledge of written English (written comprehension) and another language deemed necessary for continued research
• Additional documents to provide:
  • Letter of intent or motivation
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Outline of the research project
  • Two letters of recommendation

Research Activities

The program allows you to be part of a research team and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of ethnology, archaeology, biological anthropology or ethnolinguistics. Students can also participate in internships, excavations and research projects.
