Program Overview

The Doctorate in Music program, Piano Accompaniment option, is designed to promote student autonomy in the search for personal instrumental playing through a high-level repertoire. This professional program aims to deepen students' written and oral skills, as well as their knowledge of music analysis and history.

• MIN 7042: Vocal and instrumental accompaniment seminar
• MUI 7394A, MUI 7394B, MUI 7394C, MUI 7394D: Tutoring 1, 2, 3, 4

The elective courses personalize your journey:

• EMU 7310: Steering technique
• EMU 7312: Conducting technique, study of the score
• MUS 6107: Seminar on piano playing, from gesture to sound

Admission Requirements

Eligibility Conditions

• Meet the general eligibility conditions of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
• Hold a master's degree in performance or a Conservatory Prize, or demonstrate other academic training deemed equivalent.
• Summoned to an instrumental audition and an interview.
• Submit to a musical analysis lodge examination at the time of admission.
• Have sufficient knowledge of the English language.
• Respect the eligibility conditions specific to the province or country of origin.

Costs and Financial Assistance

Tuition fees vary depending on the status of the student:

• Permanent resident of Quebec: $2,183.05 per quarter full-time
• Canadian non-resident in Quebec: $2,183.05 per quarter full-time, with possibility of exemption from additional fees under certain conditions
• International student: $9,972.10 per quarter full-time
• French or French-speaking Belgian student: $2,183.05 per full-time quarter, with possibility of exemption from additional fees

This highly professional program prepares students for a career as a concert performer, chamber musician, orchestral musician, or accompanist. Graduates can also take up positions in higher education institutions, the arts, communications, music entertainment, and education sectors.
