The DMD program at Temple University's Kornberg School of Dentistry prepares graduates to take national written and state required clinical examinations as required by the 50 state boards of dentistry.
Program Outcomes
Graduates of the DMD program are prepared to take national written and state required clinical examination as required by the 50 state boards of dentistry. The school scored at or above the national average on the National Board of Dental Examinations (NBDE Part I and II) for the most recent previous 12 months. The overall pass rate for the American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) Licensing Exam, for the most recent graduating class, was over 90 percent.
Externship Opportunities
Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry offers externship opportunities for dentistry students in their senior year to experience working with patients, fellow students, and dentists abroad. The Dental School has an agreement with the emirate of Kuwait to train dental students in the DMD program. The Kuwait Exchange Program enables students to study the dental care and education systems in Kuwait, shadow and assist their peers in the University of Kuwait's School of Dentistry clinic, and experience Kuwaiti culture and hospitality.
- Weeklong mission trips to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Jamaica
- The school's weeklong Haiti Dental Mission has been active for more than 22 years, sending teams of dental students and faculty each year
- The Peru Club is a nonprofit organization that partners with the Growing Smiles Foundation and provides the opportunity for students and faculty to experience life and learn about a different culture

Community Outreach
All dental students take courses to prepare and sensitize them to the dental needs in the community surrounding Temple. Courses stress the importance of providing dental services to underserved people who lack access to quality dental care. Senior students complete a 10-day clinical outreach rotation at Dental School-affiliated community outreach sites, including:
- Community Volunteers in Medicine
- Quality Community Health Care
- Garces Dental Health Clinic
- Doc Bresler's Cavity Busters
- Red Standard 2–Educational Program Clinical Sciences 2 - 248 Lion Surgicenter
- Greater Philadelphia Health Action
Alumni Mentoring
Many Kornberg School of Dentistry alumni stay closely connected to the school and are an invaluable resource for dentistry students as they lay the foundation for their careers. Through the Alumni Mentoring Program, alumni share their professional experience with current Temple students. Mentors are available to students to help them make the transition from undergraduate student to dental student to dental practitioner manageable and enjoyable.
