Introduction to the Katz School of Medicine
The Katz School of Medicine provides students with an education that is patient-centered, instilling in learners the school's ethic of human service and lifelong learning. The school offers research opportunities that advance and integrate basic and clinical science, and patient care that is administered with compassion and understanding, utilizing contemporary knowledge and techniques.
Program Details
The Katz School of Medicine confers the Doctor of Medicine degree and offers the following dual degree/certificate programs: MD/PhD, MD/MA in Health Justice & Bioethics, MD/MBA, and MD/Certificate in Narrative Medicine.
Our Campuses
The Katz School of Medicine offers MD degree training at three locations:
- The Medical Education and Research Building (MERB), located at the North Philadelphia campus of Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- St. Luke's University Health Network Regional Campus in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
- WellSpan Health in York, Pennsylvania
North Philadelphia Campus
The North Philadelphia campus is part of Temple University's vibrant Health Sciences Center, which includes Temple's School of Pharmacy and School of Dentistry. The campus features state-of-the-art facilities for education, research, and student life, including open research spaces, smart classrooms, and a state-of-the-art clinical skills and robotic simulation center.
St. Luke's Regional Campus
Located in beautiful, historic downtown Bethlehem, the St. Luke's Regional Campus offers all the benefits of a large academic medical center with a hometown, community-focused feel. Featuring a class size of 40, students benefit from outstanding mentorship and diverse clinical experiences.
WellSpan Health
Located in historic York, Pennsylvania, the Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine at WellSpan Health combines the strengths of a large teaching medical center with a rich outpatient and educational environment. The campus advances WellSpan's vision to reimagine healthcare through the delivery of exceptional healthcare, simplified.
Global Medicine Program
This comprehensive, hands-on enrichment program provides students with global clinical and research opportunities, which can be life-changing and career-inspiring. Experiences include care that spans preventative healthcare, emergency care, and international service, ensuring that program participants fulfill their personal and professional goals.
Community Engagement
The Katz School of Medicine encourages and supports broad service involvement through more than 50 student-run groups, including the Student Government Association.
Financial Aid
Managing student indebtedness is important to the Katz School of Medicine. A dedicated financial aid coordinator provides information to applicants on interview day and works closely with students the summer before matriculation. A thorough, structured program of financial counseling and debt management continues throughout a student's time at Temple. To be considered for all possible funding, applicants are strongly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1. The Katz School of Medicine offers multiple resources for students, including various types of aid available.
