Program Overview
Program Overview
The Film and Media Intensive program at Temple Rome is a six-week program that allows students to study film in Rome and Bologna. The program is scheduled to be offered again in 2027.
Academic Program
The program offers two 4-credit courses:
- FMA 3680: Foreign Studies in FMA (4 credits), which spans six weeks, including the final two weeks in Bologna.
- Crosslisted with MSP 4571: International Topics in Media and Communication
- Crosslisted with ARTH 2660: Topics in International Cinema
- FMA 4240: Writing for Media (4 credits), which takes place during the first four weeks of the program in Rome.
- Crosslisted with MSP 3890: Intermediate Topics in Media Production
Location
The program is held in Rome and Bologna, Italy. Temple University Rome's campus is located at Via di San Sebastianello 16, adjacent to Piazza di Spagna.
Program Dates
The program dates are tentative and subject to change. The program is scheduled to take place from mid-May to late June.
Housing
Students will stay in program-arranged housing in Rome and Bologna. In Rome, students will stay in apartment-style housing, while in Bologna, students will stay at Combo, a trendy multi-service accommodation.
Activities & Excursions
Students will participate in multiple cultural activities and excursions throughout the program, including a day trip to Verona, guided walking tours of Bologna, and a visit to the Verona Film Museum.

The program is led by Temple faculty members, including Nora M. Alter and Erika Tasini.
Program Costs
The program costs include:
- A non-refundable program deposit of $400
- Tuition and fees, which vary depending on the student's school and residency
- A Film Intensive Program Fee, estimated at $3,590, which includes housing, orientation, transportation, and some field trips
Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, students must:
- Be enrolled full-time and have completed at least two semesters of college-level study
- Be in good academic standing and meet the minimum GPA requirement of 2.5
- Have a valid passport
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of application
