Physician Assistant Program
The Physician Assistant program at Temple University is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to practice as primary care physician assistants.

The program is a graduate-level program that consists of a combination of didactic and clinical coursework. The program is designed to be completed in 26 months, with students graduating with a Master of Medical Science degree.
Curriculum
The curriculum is divided into two main components: didactic and clinical.
- Didactic Component: The didactic component consists of 12 months of classroom instruction, where students learn about the fundamentals of medical science, including anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathology.
- Clinical Component: The clinical component consists of 14 months of clinical rotations, where students gain hands-on experience in a variety of medical specialties, including family medicine, internal medicine, surgery, and pediatrics.
Course Descriptions

- PA 8101: Physician Assistant Practice I: This course introduces students to the principles of physician assistant practice, including the history of the profession, professionalism, and the physician assistant-physician relationship.
- PA 8102: Patient Assessment I: This course teaches students the fundamentals of patient assessment, including interviewing, physical examination, and diagnostic testing.
- PA 8103: Human Gross Anatomy: This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, including the structure and function of the human body.

Clinical Rotations
The clinical rotations provide students with hands-on experience in a variety of medical specialties, including:
- Family Medicine: Students learn about the principles of family medicine, including preventive care, diagnosis, and treatment of common medical conditions.
- Internal Medicine: Students learn about the principles of internal medicine, including the diagnosis and treatment of complex medical conditions.
- Surgery: Students learn about the principles of surgery, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care.
- Pediatrics: Students learn about the principles of pediatrics, including the diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions in children.
Program Requirements
To be eligible for the Physician Assistant program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree: Students must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Prerequisite Courses: Students must have completed the following prerequisite courses: anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, and physics.
- GPA: Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- GRE: Students must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and submit their scores as part of the application process.
