Introduction to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Building Basic Competency program is designed to help professionals develop skills for working effectively in a diverse setting. This program will benefit managers and employees alike, providing education on basic concepts around cultural differences, biases, and their impact on workplace structures, and how to evaluate and improve the workplace climate.
Program Overview
Managing and performing successfully in a diverse team requires a commitment to building a healthy workplace culture, an understanding of key ideas around bias and its operation on individual and systemic levels, and a sense of humility and dedication to learning. These are essential to retaining talent, to individual success, and to effective teamwork.

- May 17: Climate Matters

Session Details
Cultural Humility and Allyship
This session is designed to reorient employees toward a positive, outcome-focused discussion about diversity, equity, and inclusion from a professional development lens. The goal of this session is to educate organizational leaders on how to effectively demonstrate an equitable and inclusive professional brand that creates positive outcomes for diverse work environments.
Climate Matters
In this session, participants learn about the nature of diversity climate and its pivotal role in effective diversity management in organizations. Diversity climate is distinguished from demographic diversity, and the benefits of pro-diversity climates for employees and organizations are outlined.
Uncovering and Responding to Bias
This session provides an in-depth look at various forms of bias that operate in the workplace. The group discusses ways to begin identifying biases at play in your organization and your own practices. Participants learn how the law interacts with workplace culture, discuss requirements created by the law, and think about how to respond to complaints or issues in your organization in a way that both adheres to the law and creates a healthy, productive workplace.

- Format: All sessions will be held at the Center for Executive Education on Temple University's Main Campus.
Digital Badge
Participants who complete the series by attending all three modules will receive a Digital Badge of Completion from Temple University, suitable for adding to a resume and sharing via social media.
Program Investment
The investment required to attend this three-day series is $1,400 per registrant. An early registration price of $1,200 is available. Additional discounts are available for companies sending groups of 4+ participants and for Temple University alumni.
