  • Description: This course introduces students to the crossroads between biological science concepts and art conservation, focusing on the biotechnical preservation of antiquities.

Course Description

The course aims to stimulate critical thinking, teaching students about basic biological concepts and their involvement in the deterioration or restoration of artifacts of historical relevance. Students will learn about the role of biotechnology in the identification, isolation, and application of bioactive molecules useful in artwork "bio-cleaning" procedures or to control microbial colonization.
