DOM Research Curriculum

The Department of Medicine Research Curriculum provides comprehensive research education for Internal Medicine residents. The curriculum is designed to prepare residents for careers in academic medicine and includes training on planning, implementing, and presenting research.


Research Curriculum Objectives

The objectives of the research curriculum are to:


  • Develop skills in searching and appraising literature
  • Learn how to ask research questions and generate hypotheses
  • Develop knowledge in research methodology
  • Learn how to write a research proposal and plan
  • Develop skills in gathering and organizing data
  • Develop skills in data analysis
  • Develop skills in scientific writing and presentations
  • Provide exposure to academic medicine and potential career paths
  • Build residents' portfolio for fellowship applications

Departmental Medicine Research Seminar Series

The Departmental Medicine Research Seminar Series is a virtual seminar series held on the third Thursday of each month at noon, from September to June. The series aims to present topics that will help participants to plan a clinical research project, implement either observational or experimental clinical research, analyze and interpret the data, and present clinical research data.


Internal Medicine Resident Research Conference Series

The Internal Medicine Resident Research Conference Series is a monthly conference series held from September to May. The series provides a platform for residents to present their research and receive feedback from faculty and peers.
