Overview
The Graduate Diploma of Perioperative Medicine is a comprehensive course teaching fundamental skills and application of clinical ultrasound, and how to critically evaluate the clinical applications of ultrasound in the perioperative period. Perioperative Medicine and the use of focused clinical ultrasound are two rapidly evolving areas of modern clinical medicine, with focused clinical ultrasound fast being integrated into clinical practice.

Course Structure
The course is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge of perioperative clinical ultrasound, perioperative medicine, and enhanced recovery after surgery pathways, and the ability to manage patients in the perioperative environment. The first half of the program consists of four subjects, which make up the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ultrasound. To progress to the Graduate Diploma in Perioperative Medicine, students must successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ultrasound.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning for the first half of the program will also be given to participants who have previously completed the higher clinical ultrasound courses (Graduate Diploma or Master of Clinical Ultrasound, or the prior version of the Graduate Diploma (Postgraduate Diploma in Perioperative and Critical Care Echocardiography)).
Who is the Graduate Diploma of Perioperative Medicine for?
This course is designed for medical professionals wishing to obtain further expertise in ultrasound for clinical practice. It is particularly valuable for anaesthetists, emergency physicians, and other medical specialists. International students are welcome to study this course, but please note that this course is not available to international students who require a student visa to study in Australia.
