Introduction to the Animal Science Program

The Animal Science program at Michigan State University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of animal science, including advances in animal feeding, breeding, reproduction, and management techniques, as well as the health and welfare of animals.


Program Overview

Students in the Animal Science program complete a set of core courses in breeding and genetics, nutrition, physiology, and management. The program provides flexibility, allowing academic advisers to guide students through a program of study that is consistent with their interests and goals. Scientific principles of biology and animal science are taught using horses, dairy cattle, beef cattle, swine, poultry, sheep, and companion animals.
