German Advanced Stage G

Course Description

This course will enable students to further develop their oral, aural, and written language skills in German, allowing them to express themselves fluently and spontaneously. The course focuses on speaking and provides ample opportunity to practice conversational skills through various activities, including listening to authentic audio and video tapes, reading newspaper and magazine texts, and completing exercises to enhance vocabulary and grammar knowledge.


Course Content

  • The emphasis of the course is on speaking, with a focus on analyzing and discussing cultural, social, and political issues of German-speaking countries.
  • A revision of the passive and the subjunctive, prepositions, idioms, expressions, and proverbs will be included.
  • The course covers a wide range of topics adapted to students' interests.
  • This course is designed for students with a very good working knowledge of German, equivalent to 6 years of part-time study and/or completion of Advanced German Stage F.

Learning and Teaching

The course emphasizes participation, encouraging students to actively engage in class through non-threatening activities designed to stimulate communication.


Coursework and Assessment

Assessment is divided into four parts to evaluate speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The methods are designed to increase confidence and are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives. Weekly sessions are supplemented by recommended revision and practice time between lessons.
