The PhD with a Clinical Component is a four-year program designed for dental professionals to engage in exciting research programs while developing their clinical skills in their chosen discipline.

Overview

This program is an ideal opportunity for individuals to grow their research capability and enhance their clinical skills. Students will spend four days a week conducting research and one day a week enhancing their clinical skills through didactic teaching, attendance at specialist clinics, and supervised patient care.

Structure

The clinical themes will include clinical exposure from Year 1, varying by discipline, but all involving hands-on training in diagnosis, management, and rehabilitation of patients. The research topic will be influenced by clinical interests, aligned with the School's research themes, and designed in collaboration with experienced PhD supervisors.

Funding

Candidates may be eligible for a UK government postgraduate doctoral loan. Additional funding opportunities are available, including PhD studentships and projects.

Entry Requirements

IELTS 7.0 with 6.5 in each subskill taken within the past 2 years, or equivalent.
