Introduction to the Broadcast Journalism (MA) Program
The MA in Broadcast Journalism at Cardiff University is a challenging, practical program designed to prepare students for a career in broadcast news in the UK. This intensive, year-long course delivers hands-on training to prepare students to become multi-skilled, industry-ready journalists.

Admissions Criteria
To be considered for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A copy of their degree certificate and transcripts, showing a 2:2 honours degree in any subject or an equivalent international degree.
- A copy of their IELTS certificate with an overall score of 7.5 and 7.5 in all subskills, or evidence of an accepted equivalent.
- A reference (academic or professional) demonstrating their suitability for the program.
- A personal statement covering why they want to apply for the course, their journalism or media experience, and their career aspirations.
Learning and Assessment
The program is taught through a combination of practical workshops, live studio sessions, and news production days. Assessment is designed to mirror the challenges of a modern newsroom and includes live news days, practical assignments, written reports, and exams.
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees for the program are as follows:
- Home status: Ł12,450 per year
- Overseas status: Ł24,950 per year, with a deposit of Ł2,500

Financial support may be available to individuals who meet certain criteria. The university offers Master's Scholarships, postgraduate loans, and an alumni discount.
