Overview

The Architecture: Professional Practice (PgDip) is a part-time distance learning program designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the legal and economic aspects of architectural practice and construction procurement. The program is taught over two years, with a total of 120 credits.

Course Structure

Admissions Criteria

To be considered for the program, applicants must:

1. Provide a copy of their certificate and transcripts showing qualifications prescribed by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) at Part 1 and Part 2.
2. Submit a copy of their IELTS certificate with an overall score of 6.5 and 5.5 in all subskills, or evidence of an accepted equivalent.
3. Provide evidence of completing a minimum of 12 months of professional experience compliant with ARB requirements.
4. Include a personal statement outlining reasons for studying the program and any relevant experience.

Application Deadline

Applications are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and it is recommended to apply as early as possible. Applications normally close at the end of August but may close sooner if all places are filled.

Learning and Assessment

• Teaching Methods: Distance learning using the University's e-learning platform, with detailed course notes, wikis, pre-recorded video presentations, live-streamed events, and online workshops.
• Assessment: Coursework, including structured assignments, case studies, reports, and essays, along with a professional interview. There are no written examinations or class tests.
