Program Overview
Biomedical Science Program
The Biomedical Science program at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems applies fundamental biological research, analysis, and technology to human health. The program educates students whose undergraduate education is in basic life sciences (e.g., biology) or paramedical disciplines in quantitative data analysis, mathematical modeling, systems analysis, and informatics. For students entering with degrees in physics, mathematics, and/or computer science, the School, in close collaboration with the Department of Biology, provides the coursework needed to acquire proficiency in the life sciences.

PhD committee review begins after February 1. PhD applications must be submitted by February 1 to be considered for assistantships.
Requirements
- Graduate Admission Application: An application fee of $65 U.S. is required.
- Transcripts: Official transcripts must be sent directly to Drexel from all colleges and universities attended.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language: International applicants are required to demonstrate English language proficiency by submitting scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL minimum scores: 90/577/233), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS minimum Overall Band Score: 6.5), the Pearson Test of English (PTE minimum score: 61), or the Duolingo Test (Duolingo minimum score: 110) unless they meet the criteria for a waiver.
- Essay: Approximately 500 words explaining reasons for pursuing a degree from Drexel, short-term and long-term career plans, and how background, experience, interest, and/or values, when combined with a Drexel degree, will enable the pursuit of these goals successfully.

- Letters of Recommendation: Two letters from either former professors or professional contacts with supervisory capacity are required.
