The Family Nurse Practitioner (Individual Across the Lifespan) Post-Master's Certificate program at Drexel University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. This online program provides experienced nurses who have earned their Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with the opportunity to prepare for a highly-rewarding career as a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (CFNP).

Program Overview

Drexel University's accredited, online Family Nurse Practitioner (Individual Across the Lifespan) Post-Master's Certificate prepares current MSN-prepared nurses for successful careers as Family Nurse Practitioners. The program focuses on preparing practitioners for primary care of the family and/or individual across the lifespan from birth to death. Graduates become instantly eligible to sit for their Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Exam through AANP or ANCC.

Curriculum

The program is organized into four 10-week quarters per year. The curriculum includes:

• Diagnostic Reasoning
• Primary Care of Patients Across the Lifespan
• Professional Issues for Nurse Practitioners The curriculum focuses on well care and the management of episodic acute or chronic illnesses.

Practicum/On-Campus Requirements

The program requires on-campus visits and participation in mandatory on-campus and/or virtual intensives. Pennsylvania RN licensure is required prior to the start of clinical components.

Clinicals

The nurse practitioner programs in the Department of Advanced Practice Nursing at Drexel University provide flexibility in finding and coordinating clinical sites and preceptors. Students may be required to travel to access clinical sites/preceptors and achieve the necessary clinical hours.

Admissions Criteria

• Master of Science in Nursing and/or Doctorate of Nursing Practice from a fully accredited program
• GPA of 3.0 or above
• 1-2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience preferred
• Current, unrestricted United States RN license

Tuition

The tuition rate for the academic year is $1169 per credit, with a 10% tuition savings off Drexel's regular tuition rate. A graduate online program fee of $125 per year applies to students enrolled in an online graduate academic program.

Academic Calendar

The academic calendar includes four 10-week quarters per year, with classes beginning in September, January, March, and June. Exams are held at the end of each quarter.
