- Ancient History: The history of the ancient Mediterranean region and its civilizations, from the beginning of the written tradition to the middle of the 1st millennium A.D.
- Middle Ages: The history of the Middle Ages, represented by two chairs and their teams, covering the Early and High Middle Ages (ca. 500 - 1250) and the High and Late Middle Ages (11th - 15th centuries).
- Early Modern Times: The early modern period, covering the time from about 1500 to 1800, with a focus on European expansion, media, scientific and political revolutions, and the history of knowledge and warfare.
- Modern Times and Contemporary History: The modern period, from about 1800, with three chairs dealing with the long 19th century, the 20th century, and European culture and contemporary history.

The degree B.A. History (2 subjects / teacher training) serves as a qualification to work in the communication of history and culture with regard to historical and political areas and topics, e.g., in cultural institutions or in historico-political education.
Structure
The program consists of:
- Introductory modules: Offering a first insight into the four epochs Ancient History, Middle Ages, Early Modern Times, and Modern Times.
- Specialisation modules: Allowing students to set their own focus independently.
- Advanced modules: Providing an opportunity to practically apply the knowledge and methodological awareness acquired in the introductory modules.
- Project and internship modules: Enabling students to gain practical experience.
- Bachelor's thesis: A scientific investigation of approximately 40 pages, written in one of the two BA subjects.
