The Master's programme in Religious Studies is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the subject, building upon the basic knowledge and skills acquired in the Bachelor's programme. • Empirical exploration: training abilities to perceive and analyse lived religion in context
• Religious-scientific exploration: practicing historical or systematical analysis in an extensive term paper
• Independent studies: promoting individual research interests and practicing the written presentation of research results

Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for the Joint Honours MA in Religious Studies include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with verification of knowledge in historical, empirical, and systematical subject areas of Religious Studies or related disciplines. The requirements also include academic performance with recognizable content references to religious topics, comprising at least 36 credits.

Language Requirements

There are no formal language requirements for the programme, but source competencies in religious-related philologies are desirable. For international applicants, certified proficiency in German language is required for enrolment at the Faculty of Humanities.

The Master's programme in Religious Studies prepares students for occupations as specialists in issues regarding the systematic development of religious aspects of life and the competent analysis of religious contemporary culture. Possible areas of occupation include departments for integration and migration, adult education, public reviews, and scientific work at an institute of higher education.
