Introduction to Romance Studies - Spanish

The Romance Studies degree programme imparts linguistic, literary, and cultural skills in relation to the field of Romance languages, with a particular focus on the Spanish language and the Hispanophone linguistic and cultural area.

Programme Content

The programme introduces students to the working methods and subjects of linguistics, literature, and cultural studies. Students learn how to deal with texts academically and how to speak and write about them professionally. The programme enables students to develop the ability to carry out independent academic work. In addition to developing language skills in Spanish, students acquire basic knowledge of other Romance languages.

Structure

The Bachelor's degree is the first professional qualification, with a standard period of study of six semesters. The programme consists of various forms of courses, such as seminars, lectures, and tutorials, offered for individual modules. A multi-subject Bachelor's degree consists of a major subject with 120 credit points and a supplementary subject with 60 credit points.

Field Trips and Internships

Field trips and internships round off the degree programme, providing students with an initial insight into typical professional fields and contacts in the world of work. It is recommended that students spend at least one semester in a Spanish-speaking country during their studies.
