Introduction to Classical Archaeology

Classical Archaeology is a minor subject in the multi-subject bachelor's programme at the University of Jena. Programme Content

The programme explores the cultural significance of the material remains of earlier times, key features of those periods, and conclusions drawn from findings. It involves excursions, excavations, and the application of scientific methods to ancient artefacts. The University of Jena has extensive collections of ancient craftwork, coins, sculptures, and other artefacts.


Structure

The multi-subject bachelor's programme consists of a major subject worth 120 ECTS credits and a minor subject worth 60 ECTS credits. Practical training is part of the required elective modules. The programme includes compulsory and required elective areas, with modules such as Introduction to Classics, Classical Archaeology I Greece, and Classical Archaeology II Rome.
