Program Overview


Finance (BComm) Program Overview

The Finance program at Concordia University is a competitive program that equips students with the skills to manage money and make informed decisions that impact the future of corporations, communities, and investors. As a Finance student, you will learn to understand the appreciation of money over time, analyze investment opportunities, develop financing alternatives, and weigh risk factors to build wealth responsibly.


Program Structure

The Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance takes a minimum of three to four years of full-time study, depending on your academic background. The program consists of:


  • Core business courses (48 credits)
  • Finance major courses (24 credits)
  • Electives (18 credits), which may include a business minor (12 credits)

Program Options

The Finance program offers several options:


  • Major in Finance: A 24-credit Finance major that can be combined with a minor in another discipline or elective courses.
  • Honours in Finance: Students who qualify for the Honours in Finance program complete a 24-credit Finance major plus a six-credit research-based course.
  • Minor in Finance: A 12-credit Minor in Finance available to John Molson School of Business students already in the program.
  • Integrated Path: Get a head start on graduate studies by taking up to nine credits that count towards both your Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Science (MSc) in Finance.

Co-op Program

The Co-op program provides hands-on experience in financial management, financial analysis, and portfolio investments. During paid work terms, you will acquire first-hand experience in corporate finance, investments, financial institutions, derivatives, and international finance.


Admission Criteria

Minimum admission requirements include:


  • Quebec CEGEP: 27 overall, 26.5 math
  • High School: B overall, B in math
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma: 29 overall, 4 HL or 5 SL math
  • International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (CP): 4.8/7 overall, 4 HL or 5 SL math
  • Baccalauréat français: 13 overall, 13 in math
  • British system of education (GCE): At least two A-level exams CC, C in math
  • University transfers (internal): 2.7 overall, 2.7 in math
  • University transfer (external): B- overall, B- in math

Application Deadlines

  • FALL ENTRY (September): Deadline is March 1 for Canadian applicants and February 1 for U.S. and international applicants.
  • WINTER ENTRY (January): Deadline is November 1 for Canadian applicants and August 1 for U.S. and international applicants.
