Program Overview
Urban Planning and Urban Studies (BA)
The Urban Planning and Urban Studies program at Concordia University offers students the opportunity to explore the complexities of urban development and planning. Through a combination of lectures, labs, and projects, students will study the relationships between socio-cultural, economic, and physical aspects of urban development, learn to gather and interpret statistical data, and acquire technical knowledge of computerized mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Program Overview
The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of urban planning and development, preparing them for careers in fields such as development and zoning coordination, urban design consulting, real estate analysis, project management, and community economic development.
Program Structure
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Planning and Urban Studies takes a minimum of three or four years (90-120 credits) of full-time study, depending on the student's academic background. The program offers several options, including:
- Major in Urban Studies (42 credits)
- Minor in Urban Studies (30 credits)
- Honours in Urban Planning (63 credits)
- Specialization in Urban Planning (60 credits)
Admission to the Urban Planning programs is through the Major in Urban Studies. Students seeking admission to the Urban Planning programs may apply for a transfer after completing certain courses and obtaining a grade point average of 3.0 for Specialization and 3.3 for Honours.
Admission Criteria
The minimum admission requirements for the program are:
- Quebec Cegep: 21
- High School: C+
- International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma: 26
- International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (CP): 4.3/7
- Baccalauréat français: 11
- British system of education (GCE): At least two A-level exams CD, or at least 4 AS-level exams with equivalent results
- University Transfers (internal/external): C

The application deadlines for the program are:
