The Science Management master's program is a continuing education program that teaches students the skills of science management, marketing, and communication. Admission Requirements

The formal requirements for the master's program are a first university degree qualifying applicants to work in a profession, as well as a minimum of one year's subsequent working experience in one or more professional fields. Alternatively, applicants can have successfully completed an examination of professional competence, along with a minimum of five years of subsequent working experience in one or more professional fields. Applicants are required to submit proof of German skills when applying, except for those with German citizenship, who took the German Abitur, or whose first degree program was taught in German.


Program Structure

The master's program in Science Management can be completed part-time and independent of learning time in four semesters. It comprises eight modules, as well as a master's thesis. The syllabus follows a blended learning format, with parts of the program completed in class and others online. There are eight periods of classroom attendance spread over two years, generally taking place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

An internship is not a compulsory component of the program, and students are not required to complete a stay abroad for the program.


Acquired Skills

The master's program qualifies students for a career in science management, science marketing, and science communication. Students acquire competences in leadership and communication, as well as skills to foster personal development. The program focuses on internationalization and digitalization, providing technical knowledge of the structure of the science system, financing and controlling, fundraising, and project funding and management.


After Graduation

As a graduate of the master's program, students are equipped to undertake specialist work in the area of science management/science marketing. They are well-versed in the various fields of application of science management/science marketing within science institutes, organizations, and businesses, and are able to effectively represent and communicate scientific interests.
