Program Overview

Program Overview

The Industrial Engineering and Management degree program is designed to address the increasing complexity of the corporate world by offering an integrated education in technical, economic, mathematic, scientific, and legal disciplines. This program enables students to acquire skills in designing, planning, and operating socio-technical systems.

Admission Requirements

To apply for the Industrial Engineering and Management program, applicants must possess a university entrance qualification certificate. The program is taught in German, and applicants with a foreign school-leaving certificate must provide proof of German skills at a specific level. A knowledge of English is useful, but not a condition for admission. Basic knowledge of and interest in natural sciences, math, engineering, and management are recommended.

Program Structure

The Industrial Engineering and Management study program is divided into three areas:

  • Integration component: methodological skills in mathematics, statistics, operations research, and programming
  • Economics and law: skills in economics and law
  • Technical engineering skills: choice of one of the engineering majors offered The program also includes a technical pre-internship and a free elective, concluding with a bachelor's thesis.

Study and Examination Regulations

The proposed course schedule for the Industrial Engineering and Management bachelor's degree program is a recommendation for completing the degree within the standard period of study of six semesters. The most current version of the regulations applies to applicants.

Content and Modules

The bachelor's degree program consists of various modules, each combining curriculum content relating to a certain topic and including study and teaching formats such as lectures, practical tutorials, seminars, and practical projects. Students are required to earn a specific number of credit points and complete certain coursework and assessments in each module.

Internships

The program requires a pre-study engineering internship lasting at least nine weeks. Proof of completion must be submitted before registering for the final assessment.

Stays Abroad

Some parts of the curriculum can be completed through semesters and/or internships abroad. The TU Berlin Industrial Engineering and Management degree program offers over 250 exchange programs with foreign universities.

Acquired Skills

Graduates receive an education that is both broad and detailed at an advanced level, based on TU Berlin's excellent offerings in engineering, information technology, and economics. The program enables graduates to understand complex tasks in both technical and economic contexts and to solve them using an interdisciplinary and holistic approach.

After Graduation

The ability to develop transdisciplinary solutions makes graduates ideal leaders in integrated management. The degree program teaches methodological tools and the ability to integrate and apply knowledge across disciplines, enabling graduates to work in almost all operating divisions, particularly at the cross-section of management and technical departments.
