Program Overview
The international master's program in Energy Management prepares students for a managerial career in the energy sector. This continuing education master's degree teaches the technical, legal, economic, business management, and entrepreneurial aspects of energy management, equipping students with the skills required to work in the energy sector. Students acquire knowledge of the technical principles of energy generation, distribution, and use, as well as the economic, ecological, and societal conditions in which these occur.
Admission Requirements
The formal admission requirements for the master's program are a first university degree qualifying a graduate for professional work and subsequent relevant professional experience of, as a rule, not less than one year. Admission is subject to a selection procedure, with selection criteria including:
- The overall grade achieved in the previous degree
- Test results of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or an alternative evaluation
- The relevance of the subjects taken in the previous degree program
- Proof of all relevant professional experience of six months or more gained since graduating from the previous degree program
- Proven level of English
- Motivation and reasons for applying to the master's program and the overall impression created by the application
Program Structure
The continuing education master's degree in Energy Management begins in the winter semester and lasts for 3 regular semesters (standard period of study). Students studying full-time are required to achieve 90 credit points, 72 of which are to be obtained in modules, with a further 18 credit points awarded for the master's thesis.

Internships
The master's program does not require students to complete an internship. However, students can benefit from excursions and the professional and academic experience and networks of their lecturers to develop contacts with companies offering internships.
Stays Abroad
Students have the option of organizing their own study-related stay abroad, preferably in the second or third semester. Individual guidance is available to help plan the stay abroad.
Acquired Skills
The program teaches the knowledge of engineering, business management, economics, and law required for a holistic understanding of management practice in the energy sector. Graduates acquire specialist knowledge of the technical principles of energy generation, distribution, and use, as well as their economic, ecological, and societal contexts, and the general legal framework in which they operate.

There is a high demand among businesses in the energy sector for broadly qualified specialists with integrative management and leadership skills and expert knowledge of specific sectors. Excellent career prospects are available to graduates, particularly in leading positions within the energy sector as well as in general middle and senior management positions. Typical employers include consultancies, energy providers, energy service providers, and technology companies within the energy sector.
