The bachelor's program in Automotive Engineering with teacher training is designed to provide students with the qualifications needed to teach this subject at vocational schools. The program combines technical and teacher training components, covering the fundamentals of automotive engineering, teaching methodology, and educational science.

Admission Requirements

To apply for the Automotive Engineering program, applicants must possess a university entrance qualification certificate. The program is taught in German, and applicants with foreign school-leaving certificates must provide proof of German skills at a specific level. Basic knowledge of engineering, mathematics, and physics is recommended, but not a formal requirement for admission.

Program Structure

The program consists of technical and teacher training components, broken down into:

• 90 credit points in the core subject, including a bachelor's thesis valued at 10 credit points
• 60 credit points in a secondary subject
• 30 credit points in teacher training, further broken down into:
  • 11 credit points in education
  • 7 credit points in subject-specific teaching methodology in the core subject
  • 7 credit points in teaching methodology in the secondary subject
  • 5 credit points in German as a second language/language acquisition

Study and Examination Regulations

A proposed course schedule is available, providing a recommendation for completing the degree program within the standard period of study of six semesters. The schedule is not mandatory, and some courses and modules are consecutive, meaning they must be taken after each other.

Content and Modules

The program consists of various modules, each combining curriculum content related to a specific topic. Modules include study and teaching formats such as lectures, practical tutorials, seminars, and practical projects. A module list is available, offering a current overview of all modules in the program.

Internships

The program includes a professional development internship, held for six weeks after the preparatory course during the lecture-free period. Students must also submit proof of a prevocational internship lasting 26 weeks by the time they register their bachelor's thesis.

Stays Abroad

Some parts of the curriculum can be completed abroad, providing students with valuable experiences and knowledge of other educational systems and approaches.

Acquired Skills

Graduates of the program will acquire technical skills, as well as skills in education and teaching methodology, qualifying them to pursue a consecutive master's program and later employment as a teacher of this subject at vocational schools.

After Graduation

The program qualifies students to seek employment at other institutions of vocational training and continuing education, in addition to pursuing a career as a teacher.
